Slow Down to Speed Up
The Joe Girard school of sales is that you don’t “burn” through leads looking for sales. Joe’s point of view is that “when you are talking to one person you are talking to 250.” So slow down and treat everyone with respect. Everyone!
You don’t want the ones you don’t sell to walking away with a bad taste in their mouths over how you treated them when you decided they were not a prospect.
I recently reached out and helped a business owner who was really down on his luck. I knew he wasn’t a prospect but I couldn’t resist helping him. My reward was that I simply felt good about it.
A few weeks later, after I had closed one of my largest clients ever, the new client let me know that the reason they had come to me was because of something the business owner I had helped had said to them about me.
I am thankful for Joe Girard’s “Law of 250.” It’s taught me that trying to find a way to help everyone I meet not only makes me feel good - it is good business.
