Stage 38: Think Week
I sincerely hope that you took me seriously last week and stepped out from your routine to do something unique and special with your team. You’ve worked hard to build a team that allows you to beat your competition, so it is the least you can do – show them how much you appreciate them and value their contribution. If you did, congratulations! I’d love to hear your story on what you did and how it went. If you did not, I want you to put it on your MUST DO list and get it done ASAP!
Now, we are off to Stage 38! And here’s the good news for this week’s stage. This is a rest week! Every now and then, you need to get off the bike and recover. Rest your muscles. Take a break. Get some refreshment. We’re well into this year’s race and it is high-time for an off-week.
But, I know that for many of you it is hard to really unwind – to let go of the day to day and enjoy life. So, for those of you who need to keep your engine running, I have a plan. I want you to spend the week as if you were Bill Gates! That’s right. You can imagine that you are a billionaire who has everything, can go anywhere and do anything. But instead of travelling, your going to spend your week in THINK TIME!
Bill is known to call this THINK WEEK. He steps away from his business, finds a quiet place to hang out, takes some reading materials and spends his time THINKING! Funny, you would think that since we are all business owners we would dedicate some of our waking hours to just simply thinking, but most of us never slow down enough to do it. So that is your assignment for the week. Stop, Sit and Think!
Go to your library, go to the bookstore, borrow a book from a friend, download a book to your Kindle. It doesn’t matter how. Just take time out this week to put yourself into a setting that allows you to read and think.
If you need an idea for a good book, let me know. I’ve got many of great ones to recommend. You probably have three or four sitting around that you are just waiting to find time to pick up and start. This is your week.
THINK WEEK! I can assure you that if you commit to finding time this week to genuinely think, you will be amazed by the clarity and focus that will come to you.
